Ammonium Bisulfite 70% (CAS 10192-30-0) is an ABS solution containing 70% ammonium bisulfite by weight. Ammonium Bisulfite is used in a variety of application including dechlorination, oxygen scavenging, and heavy metal reduction.Ammonium Bisulfite 70% (by weight) is a pale yellow liquid with a sulfur dioxide odor.
Applications
- Water Treatment: Effective dechlorination agent for wastewater plants. Effective over the entire pH range. Requires 2.0 unit of 70% NH4HSO3 for each unit of chlorine residual.
- Textile Industry: Antichlor to reduce deterioration of cotton and other cellulosic fibers in chlorine bleaching.
- Leather Industry: Reducing agent for bichromate in chrome tanning. Reagent used in making tanning extracts.
- Pulp and Paper Industry: Antichlor following hypochlorite, chlorine, or chlorine dioxide, bleach and reducing agent to eliminate residual peroxide.
- Metal Finishing and Electropolishing Industry: An economical and convenient reducing agent for treatment of wastes containing hexavalent chromium.
- Photographic Industry: Reducing agent for silver halides.
- Pharmaceutical Industry: Stabilizer for solutions
