Ammonium Bisulfite 60% (CAS 10192-30-0) is an ABS solution containing 60% ammonium bisulfite by weight. Ammonium Bisulfite is used in a variety of application including dechlorination, oxygen scavenging, and heavy metal reduction. Ammonium Bisulfite 60% is a straw-colored liquid with a sulfur dioxide odor.
Applications
- Water Treatment – Effective dechlorination agent for wastewater plants. Effective over the entire pH range. Requires 1.2 units of 60% NH4HSO3 for each unit of chlorine residual.
- Textile Industry – Antichlor to reduce deterioration of cotton and other cellulosic fibers in chlorine bleaching.
- Leather Industry – Reducing agent for bichromate in chrome tanning. Reagent used in making tanning extracts.
- Pulp & Paper Industry – Antichlor following hypochlorite, chlorine or chlorine dioxide, bleach and reducing agent to eliminate residual peroxide.
- Photographic Industry – Reducing agent for silver halides.
- Pharmaceutical Industry – Stabilizer for solutions.
