Applications
Sodium chloride, also known as salt, is used in many industrial applications and other chemical production. Sodium chloride is most commonly known for its use as table salt. It is also used as water softening salt and road salt. Sodium chloride is also used in the chloralkali process and in the production of sodium carbonate and calcium chloride. Sodium chloride has applications in the oil and gas, textiles, pulp and paper, food, agriculture, and rubber manufacturing industries.
Compatibilities
Sodium chloride is compatible with acetates, halides, sulfates, thiosulfates, and phosphates. Sodium chloride is not compatible with strong oxidizers, acids, lithium, and bromine, specifically bromine trifluoride. Please see SDS for full safety and compatibility information.
