Acetic acid is a weak carboxylic acid most commonly found as the main ingredient in vinegar other than water, but most often used in the production of vinyl acetate monomer.

Applications
Acetic acid is a weak carboxylic acid commonly found as the main ingredient in vinegar other than water. Its most common usage is in the production of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) and from there the production of polyvinyl acetate (PVA), but has many other uses as a chemical reagent. Acetic acid can also be found in many cleaning products and used as a food additive.
Compatibilities
Acetic acid should be stored away from oxidizing agents, especially nitric acid. It is incompatible with peroxides, acetone, methanol, brass, nylon, and silicone. Please see SDS for full safety and compatibility information
