Methyl isobutyl ketone is a solvent utilized in industrial applications. Methyl isobutyl ketone is used in nitrocellulose, lacquers, paints, varnishes, polymers, gums, and resins. It is also used in the extraction of gold, silver, and other precious metals from cyanide solutions. Methyl isobutyl ketone is also a denaturing agent for denatured alcohol.
