Acetone is an organic compound, the simplest ketone, and an incredibly common and important solvent. While some acetone is used in the production of methyl methacrylate and bisphenol A, the vast majority of its use is as a solvent and a cleaning agent. It is a common household item as a paint thinner, degreaser, and nail polish remover.
